Orishiki Suitcase

Look at this awesome suitcase! It's called 'Orishiki Suitcase' and it's a concept by Naoki Kawamoto. The geometric design is super-unique and it opens in a way no other suitcase does. Fabulous, isn't it?

Those are such sexy...

... drawers. Sure, Yoon Eun Hye is great, too, but what really caught my eye were the bank of drawers behind her. They look fantastic!
By the way, I'm turning this blog into a personal treasure-trove of awesome pictures of ideas for the home.

A Thing Called "Mine"

I've been thinking about it for a long time, and it makes me think everytime I hear it. Everytime someone says, "mine," it makes the insides of me ooze with a certain bag of feelings. I can't describe in one word exactly what those feelings are; but they include sadness, sorryness, and some other feelings, but most importantly, introspectiveness.

Have you ever stopped to think about what "mine" means? The word is common in our North American society, but probably less so in societies that are more about family and community. The word is probably even less heard-of in countries where people often wonder where their next meal is coming from. Yet here we are, demarking things as "mine, mine, mine." It's very heartwarming, however, when I hear someone tell someone else that its "theirs."

Have you ever had that heartwarming feeling? Imagine someone poor, someone who has lived in poverty his entire life... he doesn't know what it's like to own something, for something to be "mine." But now, when presented with something that is "mine," finally, he can't even believe the reality that he is now experiencing. It would bring him to tears just to be able to call something, "mine."

"Mine," brings up a lot of other thoughts, too. Like, is something reall,y "mine."? Autocratic countries aside, even in democratic and private-ownership-allowed countries, "mine," is sometimes not. What about if you have your own house? What about the taxes that you must pay? If you don't pay those, it isn't "mine" anymore. Even your own time is not yours - don't you have to go out and do something for someone else just to be able to survive?

Ignoring is Healthy!

How to Ignore Something or Someone

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Ignoring is natural. It shouldn't be hard to do. It is important that you should ignore the negative aspects of your life and when you do that, you will start to see a great change in your life, physically, mentally and emotionally. You will start to look forward to life everyday you wake up.

Steps

  1. Find out whats bothering you or what seems to bother you.
  2. Ask yourself why is it bothering you.
  3. Whatever is bothering you ignore it. When you decide to ignore something, You don't speak about it, think about it, have any type of feeling about it (scared, angry, sad, mad, insecure, or revengeful), don't fight against it, don't believe it or accept it and don't argue with it. Its over with.
  4. Know that everything in this world is different and difference is not a bad thing, its a GREAT thing. Imagine a world that was the same. Everything would be predictable. Everything would be one color. Cherish the difference but know what you want and love it.
  5. Feel good about yourself but don't be mean to anyone because they are different.
If you are ignoring a person, find the aspects of that person that you like and pay attention to that.

Tips

  • You can ignore whatever you want, its your choice
  • Pay attention to how you think, that's how you can keep track on whether you are ignoring something or not.
  • Pay attention to your emotions and do something fun if your feeling a way you don't want to feel.
  • The key to ignoring something is Letting it go. You don't agree or fight against something you Just Let It Go.
  • You can't care what people think. You have your life and they have theirs. Don't have anyone tell you how to live your life. That's your choice.

Warnings

  • Don't fight against the thing you don't want, it will start to take over your mind if you let your anger get in the way and that's not ignoring.
  • Don't discuss it or speak about it to anyone or yourself. When you do this you are not ignoring because you are still thinking of it. That's not ignoring.
  • Don't believe it. When you believe it, you are giving it the permission to take control of you. That's not ignoring.

Wasting Away Your Days

The sun is shining, the weather's great and you can hear the call of Cicadas when you step outside. Cicada males are just singin' their tune, hoping to mate with a beautiful female so that they can hurry up and die in peace - what a great way to go! It's such a nice day today, isn't it? But wait... it's not such a nice day, because you're frickin' stuck in your damn office. You can't not be there; you have work to do and can't even take a day off to live life like it's really meant to be lived. What can you do in this case? Well, I'll tell you what you can do!

-You can come in earlier than your stupid colleagues, turn on the lights, your computer and plunk your half-finished coffee down on the desk. Then, step out for the rest of the day. People will think you're merely not at your desk.
-If there's a colleague that you hate and you have to collaborate with him/her on a project... just treat the person really harshly and don't be at all friendly. Let them know that you don't give a crap and you'll only do the minimum required. That'll keep 'em off your back and they'll finish up the work alone and without complaint.
-Do your work, but erase or alter the work of colleagues that you hate. This way, it'll seem like you're much more efficient and are working much harder than they are (since all their garbage is handed in late).
-Listen to podcasts as you're "working": just make sure to continually stare at the screen and randomly tap your keyboard.

Well, those are all my suggestions for today. Go and do something you enjoy.

Workplace Got You in Chains?

If the company where you work (I avoid using the terms, "my company," or "your company," because obviously, it is someone else's device of torture.) is not a Results Based Performance (RBP) environment such as Best Buy's is - there are measures that each of us must take in order to pass the time when we are doing absolutely nothing, but nonetheless tethered to the desk. So, without further ado, here are the tips (and dear time-killing readers, please contribute!):

- Create a blog and post stuff, just like me!
- Check your e-mail for a really, really long time.
- Take bathroom breaks just to wash your hands.
- Start a conversation with the most talkative person the office.
- Go out a back door and do whatever you want for a while (one of my favorites!).
- Download e-books and read 'em on your computer (it's got to look like you're working).
- Start an online business and manage it with company time (company within a company).

Hmmm... that's all I can think of for now. The most important point is that you've either got to be invisible (not at your desk), or you've got to be looking like you're doing something. Make sure you walk around fast, so it looks like you're going somewhere "important." Just remember, because of the Internet, we can waste so much more company time than was possible in the past! And make friends with your IT guy, for "advantages."
